The Zugspitz Arena is practically the first ski area in the north of Tyrol. From Utrecht, you can reach Alpenglühen within 8 hours (820 km). Without having to go through the traffic jams at Munich and without needing a vignette. From Alpenglühen you overlook part of the slopes of the Zugspitz Arena, which has 144 km of slopes, several fun parks, and an off-piste area.
Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or a cup of coffee on top of the mountain in the sun, is of course also possible.
Cross-country skiing
The large open plain between Ehrwald, Lermoos and Biberwier is a paradise for cross-country skiing enthusiasts.
With the best views of the mountains, you will enjoy no less than 130 km of Loipe. From easy to difficult, for Classic and Skating.
The Hochloipe Ehrwalder Alm invites you to a fairytale round trip amid a snowy landscape at an altitude of 1,500 metres.
Ski/Snowboard

The Zugspitz Arena includes several villages you can access with the same ski pass. You can ski from Berwang to German Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
From the 144 km of slopes and 55 lifts, snow is guaranteed partly due to the glacier on the Zugspitze and the presence of snow cannons.
The total ski area of Ehrwald is divided into three areas, and runs from 900 to 2700m.
These three areas offer a total of 64.5 km of slopes.
On the outskirts of the village is the small ski area of Wetterstein, which offers many wide blue slopes.
Then there is the Ehrwalder Alm, a modern snow domain with a cabin lift, three heated chairlifts and three drag lifts. Advanced skiers are especially well catered for at the Alm.
At 3 km from Ehrwald, a large gliding train takes you in ten minutes to the top of the Zugspitze (2964 metres), Germany's highest mountain. The ride is so spectacular that many people without ski equipment also use it. Below the summit of the Zugspitze is the Zugspitzplatt (glacier) ski area, which can also be reached by mountain train from Garmisch-Partenkichen (Germany).
Ehrwald has several ski schools, including a children's ski school (snowland) with lunchtime childcare.
The pistes in Ehrwald (and also in Biberwier) have a central valley point so you never lose your children, ideal for families.
Snowboarders and more experienced skiers can indulge in the Snowpark on the Ehrwalder Alm or the Freeridetrails in Lermoos, with exciting pipes and varied obstacles.
NB. Oa in Berwang, Lermoos and Ehrwald the pistes are open on several evenings and there is the possibility of evening skiing on the floodlit slopes.

Tobagging
Your snow holiday isn't complete if you haven't experienced this once.
Whizzing down the mountain alone or in pairs. During the day you can enjoy tobogganing down the mountain, from the Brent Alm to the bottom of the village.
Every Wednesday and Friday evening there is a crazy tobogganing opportunity from the Ehrwalder Alm on a floodlit slope.
Hiking
The "Zugspitz Arena" stands for kilometres of hiking fun in winter. Ideal for non-skiers.
Every day, the hiking trails are maintained by mini snowploughs. Hiking maps are available at the tourist office.
All walks are well signposted so you won't easily get lost even without a map. The footpaths cleared in winter are doable for everyone. Even with a slightly less good condition, you can handle these paths. The 3 villages of Ehrwald, Lermoos and Biberwier are located in a very large valley, so you can also walk kilometres flat. You also always have the option of joining the ski bus shuttle in the valley. Let yourself be dropped off in one village, for example, and enjoy walking to your destination.
Snowshoeing is another option.
Sleigh ride
A romantic sleigh ride is something you must have done once.
You will usually find the charioteer with his sleigh on the square in front of the church.
He will take you for a comfortable sightseeing tour of the area by sleigh.
Ideal for seeing the area in a different way.
