The Zugspitz Arena is virtually the first ski resort in northern Tyrol. From Utrecht, you can reach Alpenglühen within 8 hours (820 km). Without having to deal with traffic jams near Munich and without needing a vignette. From Alpenglühen, you can see part of the Zugspitz Arena's 144 km of slopes, various fun parks, and an off-piste area for enthusiasts.
Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or a cup of coffee on top of the mountain in the sun are also options.

Snowshoeing and winter hiking
The Zugspitz Arena offers kilometres of hiking fun in winter. Ideal for non-skiers.
On more than 60 kilometres of well-maintained winter hiking trails, you can enjoy the healthy mountain air and the enchanting winter landscape.
The hiking trails are maintained daily by mini snow ploughs and hiking maps are available at the tourist office.
All walks are well signposted, so you won't get lost easily even without a map.
The walking trails that are cleared in winter are suitable for everyone.
The 3 villages of Ehrwald, Lermoos and Biberwier are located in a very large valley, De Moos, which means you can also walk for miles on flat terrain.
There is also always the option of taking the ski bus and walking back to your accommodation.
Snowshoeing is another possibility.
Relaxed walking along winter trails, trudging through loose powder snow and enjoying the absolute tranquillity of the mountain world. It sounds like a winter idyll far away from the hustle and bustle of the slopes.
NB. Before each trip, check the current weather conditions and the possible avalanche risk!

Horse-drawn sleigh
A romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride through the quiet, snow-covered valleys of the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena is something you should experience at least once in your life.
The sleigh rides usually last 30-60 minutes and are accompanied by experienced drivers, who create a cosy atmosphere with anecdotes and regional stories. Many providers combine the ride with a stop at a mountain hut or a torchlight walk.
NB. Only when there is sufficient snow.
